Orange Shirt Day Family Healing Event
October 2, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Through the late 19th and early 20th centuries, missionaries of various denominations and the Bureau of Indian Affairs undertook a systematic effort to ‘civilize’ and assimilate AI/AN children. These schools aimed to “Kill the Indian, Save the Man.” Thousands of children were forcibly separated from their families and sent to boarding schools throughout the country. Some members of the community who are parents or grandparents today experienced the trauma of the boarding schools. Join us on for a healing event for families and survivors of the boarding school era. Sponsored by Denver Indian Family Resource Center.
12:00 pm to 4:00 pm – Flyer is attached. Please display/share.
