💚 – Title III of the ADA and why Public Accommodations Matter

Does it feel daunting to be ADA-compliant? Or are you unsure how to provide an accommodation or not sure what the term \”accommodation\” means? Have you ever had an ADA complaint filed against your business or are curious about what could happen if you are not ADA-compliant? Then this course is for you!
Kevin Williams, Director of the Civil Rights Legal Program for Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition (CCDC), and a guest speaker in this course said, \”to treat people with disabilities equally, you have to do something different.\”
Public places and businesses open to the public need to do something different to comply with ADA standards so that people with disabilities have full access and enjoyment of public places.
In this training, you will learn about resources such as tax incentives, community resources, examples of accommodations, and ultimately discover that adhering to the ADA isn\’t just good business practice, it is the law!
This online, on-demand, self-paced, solutions-focused course will have you leave with a better understanding and foundational knowledge of:
- What Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is;
- Why businesses need to comply with ADA standards;
- How being ADA compliant can benefit businesses;
- What The Curb Cut Effect is;
- How businesses can provide accommodations to people with disabilities; and
- Actions you can take now as a business.

- A 90-minute, self-paced, video slide-based presentation;
- Instructors Krystal Dawson from The Arc of Aurora/THINK+change with guest speakers: Emily Shuman from the Rocky Mountain ADA Center, and Kevin Williams from Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition;
- Weblinks to TOOLS and TRAININGS you can use outside of this course;
- Closed captioning in English; and a
- Digital Certificate of Completion for entire course achievement.
Who should take this course?
- Businesses that are generally open to the public such as stores, restaurants, theaters, schools, daycare facilities, recreation facilities, medical offices, hotels, pharmacies, retail, museums, libraries, parks, schools, and commercial facilities such as factories, warehouses, office buildings, etc.
