Accessing Long-Term Care Services: DP is Committed to You!

Over the past year, individuals seeking long-term care supports have been experiencing longer than typical wait times. We want to acknowledge these challenges and assure our community that our priority is providing you with quality, person-centered supports within all our available resources.

DP has been working closely with our state partners, Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF), to identify, address, and improve access to services. We are happy to report that, with the support of our state partners, we are making significant progress.

One of our most worthwhile strategies has been to contract with a longstanding partner and staffing firm to source temporary staffing support roles to address the volume of pending work across our intake, enrollment, and active case management teams.

Following accelerated and focused training, these dedicated temporary staff members are working in highly specific areas of case management, including:

  • Data Validation
  • Intake Screens
  • Level of Care Assessments (also called 100.2 assessments)
  • Monitoring Activities
  • Annual Service Plan Activities (also called Continued Stay Reviews or CSRs)

To support these teams, we have a dedicated group of full-time staff members who have onboarded and trained these specialized support teams. Additionally, these temporary support teams receive ongoing case management supervision and access to in-office support & resources.

This creative, short-term solution has proven very effective in moving the needle on our backlogs, and the impact on our community has been incredibly positive. We expect to get fully back on track by the end of the 2024 calendar year, if not before.

While the Colorado long-term care system has faced unprecedented operational challenges due to a unique convergence of factors, we have faith in the vision of creating a better disability system for Colorado and are proud to work side by side with both state and local partners to serve you.
